Set off about 7:30 am from Rice Creek Landing to Jessamine Bayou and then on to the Indian Mound. It pays to get an early start, early morning tempatures are much lower. Made the hike inland to the mound where we had lunch. Headed home and ran into our first thunder storm on the water. Very nerve racking experience. Punctured both kayaks on the last leg of the journey. This was a long trip for one day. Saw one alligator, a baby that had been sunning himself on the bank and plopped in the water when he heard us coming.

Jessamine Bayou
July 12, 2008
We left early this time, about 8:00 am. We went out of Rice Creek, across Briar Lake, past Larry Island to Jessamine Bayou. We had lunch at Juglake Platform. Roundtrip was about 7 miles and took us approximately 5 hours. Jessamine Bayou is gorgeous! Along the way we saw 2 kite tail hawks, several cranes in flight, and two alligator sightings.
Globe Creek Trail
July 5th, 2008
The landing at French’s Lake Coastal Access Kiosk was steep and difficult to launch from. There was a lot of debris in the creek which made it difficult to navigate and in some places impassable. There was a good current and the water was cold. Lots of yellow lily pads!
